Favorite Postpartum Items

I don’t think anyone will deny that babies come with a lot of stuff. I would argue, equally as important are a few items for you during the postpartum time. The postpartum market is flooded with products promising to make your life easier and your baby happier. However, it's essential to take a critical look at these offerings and assess if they genuinely meet your needs.

My advice is to concentrate on items like comfortable clothing, feeding essentials, and quality self-care products. Remember, the most important thing is nurturing yourself and bonding with your baby. I was very lucky to have some amazing women in my corner during my postpartum experience who sent me things that I loved and used endlessly even beyond the fourth trimester. Below I’ve compiled a short list of things you may also find helpful for yourself as a new mom or to send to a friend:

  • an insulated straw water bottle, with a handle for staying hydrated

  • a soft robe to provide comfort to all those tender bits post-birth

  • button-up pajama sets to make you feel good and assist with breastfeeding, if you choose that

  • supportive bras, regardless of your feeding journey

  • eye mask to get rest in at all hours of the day and night

  • hand cream to help counter-balance all the hand washing

  • extra bed sheets for those post-birth hormone-fluctuating nights and postpartum bleeding

As a mom, it's common to encounter a flood of advice and opinions from well-meaning individuals. While it's important to seek support and guidance, remember that you are the best judge of what works for you and your baby. Trust your instincts and make decisions that align with your values and preferences.
